Monthly Music Recap (July 2022) + Personal Update
Welcome back to the monthly recap of my top singles and projects. I understand that not everyone has the time to go through weekly new music releases, so this recap is a way for me to provide a summary of new music that everyone should check out.
I’m listing my top singles and projects each month in no particular order (other than alphabetical), so check out at the end of each month or the beginning of the new month for a monthly recap. Each month might differ in terms of number of entries, as this will depend on the number of new releases, which can vary from month to month. The number for July is 35 (thirty five).
In case you missed the recap for the first half of the year, you can find it here.
Personal Update
Before we get into the recap, I would like to take this opportunity to announce something exciting: I'm publishing my first ever novel on Tapas! In case you didn't know, Tapas is a website where folks can read and post stories and comics. Heartstopper, a popular LGBTQIA+ Netflix series, actually started as a webcomic and is posted there ever so often. Personally, I've actually been reading a ton of LGBTQIA+ webcomics and stories and realized there aren't much representation for what I am, hence this novel.
My novel revolves around a character in the aroace (aromantic and asexual) spectrum and is agender. The story's title is aptly named Triple Ace and you can find the story here. The novel has themes of friendship and romance, consists of 22 chapters, and will be published every Friday and Saturday at 10am Pacific time. By the time of this newsletter, 4 chapters will be out, so you have some content to read on.
Feel free to create an account to comment, but you don't actually need an account to start reading. Feel free to also let me know your thoughts via Discord DMs (Leland#2878) or email (you can respond to this newsletter) if you're uncomfortable with public comments. Thank you for checking it out if you do!
Top Singles
Let's just say I've given up on cutting down the list and we're just going to roll with a higher count each month. That being said, this month is yet another month of very diverse singles (pop, EDM, indie, rock, and R&B), with some artists occupying two spots. One single which has been on repeat for me is Doechii and SZA's Persuasive, while one that pleasantly surprised me is Billie Eilish's The 30th.
As always, if you prefer to have all the songs played in one place, you can check out the YouTube playlist below.

Top Projects (Albums, Mixtapes, EPs)
Unlike last month, this month I had an easier time figuring out which projects I enjoyed most. This month also features a variety of genres, with some familiar names (Imagine Dragons, Lizzo, Mabel) with some newer faces (Dune Rats, renforshort, Viagra Boys). One project that I've been really enjoying in particular is FLO's The Lead, which is their debut EP.

And there you have it, my top singles and projects for the month of July 2022. Again, my intention is to provide a summary so that people can check out music if they don’t have enough time to do so. This list also gives you a taste of my favorite genres, and I hope you enjoy every one of them like I do. Happy listening!
P.S. If you want to actually stalk what I’m listening to at any time, feel free to do so on my Last.fm profile here. You can also check out my Musicboard profile here, where I track my backlog (under Listen Later) and reviews for music releases. Don’t worry, the long reviews are here to stay and I do also crosspost the long reviews there too.
On a less music-related note, I have a Letterboxd account here in case you’re interested in seeing which films I’m watching along with my brief film reviews. I also have a Serializd account for TV shows here.
