Welcome back to the monthly recap of my top singles and projects. I understand that not everyone has the time to go through weekly new music releases, so this recap is a way for me to provide a summary of new music that everyone should check out.
I’m listing my top singles and projects each month in no particular order (other than alphabetical), so check out at the end of each month or the beginning of the new month for a monthly recap. Each month might differ in terms of number of entries, as this will depend on the number of new releases, which can vary from month to month. The number this month is 20 (twenty).
Top Singles
I don’t usually highlight covers but Daugthry’s cover of Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) by Journey definitely deserves a spot this month. I’ve also included a few country singles that I usually don’t listen to, but having Dolly Parton and Shania Twain in the same month is a rare find. As always, there’s a good mix of genres (pop, R&B, rock, EDM).
If you prefer to have all the songs played in one place, you can check out the YouTube playlist in the button below.

Top Projects (Albums, Mixtapes, EPs)
Believe it or not, I actually had issues finding 20 projects this month as I didn’t have a ton of projects to listen to that I enjoyed in the first 3 weeks. The last week though was like winning the lottery as many projects that I have been looking forward to were released on the last week of January.

And there you have it, my top singles and projects for the month of January 2023. Again, my intention is to provide a summary so that people can check out music if they don’t have enough time to do so. This list also gives you a taste of my favorite genres, and I hope you enjoy every one of them like I do. Happy listening!
P.S. If you want to actually stalk what I’m listening to at any time (though it’s not working as well as it used to), feel free to do so on my Last.fm profile here. You can also check out my Musicboard profile here, where I track my backlog (under Listen Later) and reviews for music releases. Don’t worry, the long reviews are here to stay and I do also crosspost the long reviews there too.
On a less music-related note, I have a Letterboxd account here in case you’re interested in seeing which films I’m watching along with my brief film reviews. I also have a Serializd account for TV shows here. If you're into reading, I have a LGBTQIA+ story published on Tapas, featuring an aroace agender character which you can check out here.
